“Gabriel Vargas is a sensation on the rise”
- Scott Podmore, Sunday Herald Sun
Gabriel Vargas, is someone who decided in his music, as in his life, not to be tied down to definition or restricted by instruments. Instead, he is collaborating with other talented musicians in different musical styles, and artists from different mediums, to see what is produced in those moment to moment interactions.
Brazilian-Australian, Gabriel Vargas is an international artist whose musical experience is vast. He has headed up bands such as Gasoline Inc., which saw him supporting acts such as rock icons INXS, and The Feelers, and having their song Superstar picked up by the Australian Football League. The last band fronted by Gabriel was Veludo, which he also co-founded. Veludo erupted onto the Australian music scene in 2014 with the launch of their self-titled debut EP, mixed by the legendary, Grammy-winning producer, Tim Palmer (David Bowie, Pearl Jam, U2, Bon Jovi), produced by ARIA-award winning Jimi Maroudas (Eskimo Joe, Kimbra), and recorded at the world-class Sing Sing Studios.
There is a rawness to his viewpoint, and one which uncovers a man of true integrity, incredible imagination and real magic. From electro to atmospheric, alt rock, anthemic beats, tribal elements, storytelling and some theatrical rock thrown in for fun, Gabriel is sure to blow your musical mind and trickle through to its inner most secret rooms. Gabriel believes that music is multi-facetted, like a prism, and he is pushing the boundaries to see what comes from his curiosity.
